Bandung, JURNAL TIPIKOR – Wakil Wali Kota Bandung, Erwin, memberikan apresiasi tinggi terhadap peran Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa (UKM) dalam membentuk karakter dan kompetensi generasi muda. Hal ini disampaikannya saat menghadiri dan membuka kegiatan UKM Day 2025 yang diselenggarakan oleh Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa (BEM) LPKIA, Sabtu (4/10/2025).
Acara yang mengusung tema “The Common Ground” ini, menurut Erwin, sangat relevan sebagai semangat membangun ruang bersama bagi mahasiswa baru.
“Tema ini mencerminkan pentingnya menciptakan titik temu, tempat mahasiswa baru bisa mulai mengenal lingkungan kampus, memahami potensi diri, dan membangun jejaring yang akan menjadi bekal penting untuk perjalanan akademik maupun non-akademik,” ujar Erwin di Kampus LPKIA Jalan Soekarno-Hatta.
Wakil Wali Kota menegaskan bahwa di tengah kompleksitas tantangan global dan perubahan teknologi yang masif, UKM bukan sekadar kegiatan tambahan, tapi laboratorium kehidupan.
Membentuk Karakter dan Kepemimpinan
Erwin menyoroti peran strategis UKM dalam membentuk karakter mahasiswa. Melalui UKM, mahasiswa diajarkan untuk belajar kepemimpinan, mengelola perbedaan, serta bekerja dalam tim untuk mencapai tujuan bersama.
“UKM Day ini bukan hanya kegiatan seremonial, tapi momentum penting. Ini adalah titik awal kalian untuk mengembangkan minat, bakat, dan potensi, serta memperkuat jejaring pertemanan dan semangat kepemimpinan,” tambahnya.
Pemerintah Kota Bandung, lanjut Erwin, berkomitmen menciptakan generasi muda yang unggul, inovatif, dan siap menghadapi masa depan. Ia optimistis mahasiswa LPKIA dapat menjadi motor penggerak perubahan di Kota Bandung.
“Kota Bandung tidak akan maju hanya karena infrastruktur atau teknologi, tapi juga karena hadirnya generasi muda yang punya karakter kuat dan daya juang tinggi,” tegasnya.
UKM sebagai Ruang Kreasi dan Asah Soft Skill
Senada dengan Wakil Wali Kota, Wakil Rektor I Bidang Akademik dan Kemahasiswaan LPKIA, Andi Victor, menyampaikan bahwa UKM adalah bagian penting dari pendidikan di kampus.
“Di LPKIA, mahasiswa tidak hanya belajar di kelas. Lewat UKM seperti inkubasi bisnis, futsal, kreasi, hingga paduan suara, mahasiswa bisa tumbuh, berkreasi, dan berkolaborasi secara nyata,” jelas Andi Victor.
Ia mengajak seluruh mahasiswa baru untuk terlibat aktif di UKM, karena di situlah proses pembelajaran yang sesungguhnya dimulai. “Memimpin itu dimulai dari berani menghadapi tantangan dan membangun jejaring yang kuat,” pungkasnya.
UKM Day 2025 menjadi momen penting bagi mahasiswa baru untuk memilih dan terlibat dalam berbagai unit kegiatan, mulai dari wirausaha, desain grafis, hingga olahraga.
