Selain itu, lokasi tersebut juga diduga kuat tidak memiliki dokumen atau Izin Usaha Pertambangan (IUP) yang merupakan dasar untuk melakukan pertambangan.
Untuk itu, pihak Aparat Penegak Hukum (APH) diminta agar melakukan penindakan terhadap oknum yang telah melakukan aktivitas pertambangan di Desa Tanrongi.

Menanggapi hal tersebut salah Aktivis Wajo, Andi Ikbal menilai, kegiatan pertambangan tanpa IUP sering disebut sebagai pertambangan ilegal atau PETI (Pertambangan Tanpa Izin) merupakan tindakan kejahatan lingkungan.
” Selain melanggar hukum, pertambangan ilegal juga dapat menimbulkan dampak negatif terhadap lingkungan dan masyarakat,” ujarnya
Melakukan kegiatan usaha pertambangan tanpa Izin Usaha Pertambangan (IUP) merupakan pelanggaran hukum yang diatur dalam Undang-Undang Nomor 3 Tahun 2020 tentang Perubahan atas Undang-Undang Nomor 4 Tahun 2009 tentang Pertambangan Mineral dan Batubara.
” Kegiatan pertambangan tanpa IUP melanggar Pasal 158 Undang-Undang Nomor 3 Tahun 2020, yang menyatakan bahwa setiap orang yang melakukan penambangan tanpa izin dipidana penjara paling lama 5 tahun dan denda paling banyak Rp100 miliar.” Pungkasnya.
