Pekanbaru, JURNAL TIPIKOR – Peraih Beasiswa Prestasi PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) Regitha Nur Azizah mengukir prestasi dalam ajang Lomba Pidato Bahasa Inggris Tingkat Nasional. Mahasiswi asal Pekanbaru yang berkuliah di Universitas Pertamina ini meraih Juara I pada Festival Bahasa Inggris yang digelar Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis Universitas Riau (UNRI).
Regitha tampil sebagai pemenang usai menyisihkan 145 peserta lainnya yang berasal dari sejumlah kampus di Indonesia. Bagi Regitha, ini merupakan langkah awal dan pemacu semangat untuk terus mengukir prestasi lainnya baik akademik maupun nonakademik.
“Pastinya bangga karena ini merupakan perlombaan pertama saya sejak menginjak bangku perkuliahan mengingat saya masih berada di semester pertama. Pencapaian ini juga pastinya meningkatkan semangat saya untuk mengikuti banyak perlombaan lainnya,” kata Regitha,sabtu (2/3/2024).

Lomba Pidato Bahasa Inggris berlangsung secara daring (online). Pada babak penyisihan, Regitha menyampaikan pidato dengan judul ‘Get to Know Indonesian Culture in Facing Globalization’ yang membahas peran remaja dalam melestarikan keragaman budaya Indonesia di tengah derasnya arus globalisasi dan modernisasi.
“Dari 145 peserta, saya menjadi 1 dari 5 orang finalis yang masuk ke dalam babak final,” paparnya.
Pada babak final, Regitha masih membahas tentang globalisasi sebagai topik utama dalam pidatonya dengan judul “The Role of English for Indonesian Culture in Globalization Era”.
“Bagaimana globalisasi memberikan dampak terhadap penggunaan bahasa asing di berbagai sektor khususnya penggunaan Bahasa Inggris yang memainkan peran dalam keberagaman budaya Indonesia dalam mempertahankan dan mempromosikan budaya Indonesia di tingkat Internasional,” tuturnya.

Mengikuti lomba pidato Bahasa Inggris bukan hal baru bagi Regitha. Sejak masih duduk di bangku menengah atas, alumni MAN 1 Pekanbaru ini kerap tampil dan juara di berbagai perlombaan baik lokal maupun tingkat nasional. Sederet prestasi ini diakui Regitha turut mengantarkannya menjadi salah satu peraih beasiswa PHR 2023 meskipun harus melalui seleksi yang cukup ketat.
“Berkat sejumlah sertifikat juara tersebut, saya berkesempatan untuk melanjutkan pendidikan di Universitas Pertamina menggunakan beasiswa prestasi Pertamina Hulu Rokan,” kata Mahasiswi Jurusan Ilmu Komunikasi ini.
Regitha mengaku akan terus mengejar prestasi terutama dalam bidang komunikasi publik (public speaking) seperti pidato dan debat Bahasa Inggris, begitu pula prestasi akademik di kampus. Selain mengikuti lomba akademik, Regitha juga aktif dalam kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat, salah satunya pada Desa Energi Berdikari sebagai bagian dari Aksi Beasiswa Sobat Bumi.
“Tentunya saya akan terus mencari dan mengejar kesempatan yang ada. Sejatinya bagi saya untuk mengejar prestasi tidak hanya melalui lomba, tetapi juga berbagai kegiatan akademik dan non akademik,” tukasnya.

Terpisah, Corporate Secretary PHR WK Rokan Rudi Ariffianto mengaku bangga atas capaian prestasi yang diraih Regitha. Ia mendorong para peraih beasiswa PHR baik 10 orang di jenjang S-1 Universitas Pertamina dan S-2 ke Amerika Serikat dapat berprestasi selama menjalani proses perkuliahan.
“Ini menjadi salah satu bukti bahwa penerima Beasiswa PHR adalah putra-putri terbaik Riau. Teruslah berprestasi, buat bangga orang tua dan daerah,” ucapnya.
Selain Regitha, dalam waktu hampir bersamaan salah satu penerima Beasiswa Prestasi PHR Nurani juga berhasil meraih prestasi dalam lomba Essay Inovasi Nasional yang diselenggarakan Fakultas Farmasi Militer Universitas Pertahanan RI. Mahasiswi asal Rokan Hilir tersebut meraih predikat ‘Best Oral’ dalam ajang Pharmaceutical Outstanding Remarkable Competitions (Pharmacorps) dengan mengangkat tema stunting dan prototype aplikasi pencegahan stunting.
