Presiden Jokowi Lantik Budi Arie sebagai Menkominfo Gantikan Jhonny Plate yang Terjerat Kasus Korupsi
Jakarta, JURNAL TIPIKOR – Resufle kabinet kembali dilakukan Presiden Jokowi di akhir masa jabatannya.
Sempat beberapa pekan terjadi kekosongan jabatan di Kementrian Komunikasi dan Informasi (Menkominfo), akhirny Presiden Joko Widodo (Jokowi) resmi melantik Budi Arie Setiadi sebagai Menteri Komunikasi dan Informatika (Menkominfo). Pelantikan dilangsungkan di Istana Negara, hari ini, Senin (17/7/2023).
Budi Arie sebelumnya menjabat sebagai Wakil Menteri Desa, Pembangunan Daerah Tertinggal dan Transmigrasi (Wamendes PDTT). Ia juga dikenal sebagai pemimpin kelompok relawan Pro Jokowi (Projo), salah satu organisasi relawan terbesar pendukung Jokowi.

Pria kelahiran Jakarta 20 April 1969 ini juga dikenal sebagai aktivis dan relawan. Selain itu, ia juga memiliki latar belakang sebagai praktisi media.
Terkait latar belakang pendidikannya, Budi merupakan lulusan sarjana Ilmu Komunikasi, Universitas Indonesia (UI). Ia juga melanjutkan studinya ke jenjang pascasarjana di kampus yang sama, prodi Manajemen Pembangunan Sosial.
Mengutip halaman resmi Kemendesa PDTT, pada 1994, Budi Arie mengawali kariernya sebagai jurnalis di Media Indonesia Minggu hingga tahun 1996.
Lepas dari Media Indonesia, ia masih menggeluti dunia jurnalistik dengan menjadi wartawan di Mingguan Ekonomi Kontan pada tahun 1996 hingga 2001.
Tahun 2001, Budi kemudian beralih ke dunia bisnis di PT Mandiri Telekomunikasi Utama. Di sana, kariernya moncer hingga menduduki jabatan direktur utama sampai tahun 2009.
Pada 2010 ia kemudian pindah ke PT Daya Mandiri dan menjabat sebagai Direktur hingga 2014. Pada saat yang sama, Budi Arie Setiadi juga menjabat sebagai Direktur Utama NKE Investama, dan Direktur di PT Sarana Global Informasi sejak 2009 hingga 2014.
Tahun 2011 ia juga memegang jabatan sebagai direktur Utama PT Mitra Lumina Indonesia hingga 2014.
Adapun karier politiknya dimulai saat ia bergabung dengan partai PDI Perjuangan. Ia pernah menjadi Kepala Balitbang PDI Perjuangan DKI Jakarta periode 2005-2010 dan juga Wakil Ketua DPD PDI Perjuangan DKI Jakarta.
Pada 2013, Budi mendirikan relawan Pro Joko Widodo (Projo) yang kemudian berkontribusi besar terhadap pemenangan Joko Widodo di Pilpres 2014 dan 2019.

Gantikan Johnny G. Plate
Budi Arie resmi dilantik sebagai Menkominfo. Dia menggantikan Johnny G. Plate yang menjabat sebagai Menkominfo sejak tahun 2019 hingga Mei 2023. Johnny dicopot dari jabatan tersebut karena ditetapkan sebagai tersangka kasus dugaan korupsi proyek pembangunan BTS.
Posisi Johnny kemudian digantikan sementara oleh Menteri Koordinator Bidang Politik, Hukum dan Keamanan (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud MD, sesuai dengan arahan Presiden Jokowi.
Dengan ditetapkannya Budi Arie sebagai Menkominfo, maka Mahfud MD tak lagi menjabat sebagai Pelaksana Tugas (Plt) Menkominfo.
