Bandung, JURNAL TIPIKOR – Anggota DPRD Kota Bandung, Rendiana Awangga mengajak warga Kota Bandung untuk meninggalkan penggunaan asbes. Mengingat penggunaan asbes mengandung bahan yang berbahaya bagi kesehatan.
Hal tersebut ia sampaikan seusai menerima Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Australia dan Local Initiative for Occupational Health dan Safety Network (LION) Indonesia, di Gedung DPRD Kota Bandung, Senin (20/11/2023).
“Memang penggunaan asbes di Kota Bandung sudah umum, tapi bagi yang bangunan baru mari kita tinggalkan asbes dan beralih ke bahan bangunan lain yang baik dan ramah untuk kesehatan,” ujarnya.

Menurut Awangga, asbes merupaka bahan baku berbahaya yang berdampak karsinogenik dan menyebabkan kanker. Sebab ketika terhirup partikel asbes memiliki masa inkubasi 10-15 tahun di tubuh manusia.
“Asbes sudah umum digunakan dan dianggap praktis dan ekonomis. Pengganti atau alternatifnya ada, memang secara harga lebih mahal sedikit, tapi untuk kesehatan itu jauh lebih tidak ternilai harganya,” terangnya.
Ia menambahkan, sebagai bentuk keseriusan Kota Bandung terhadap pelarangan penggunaan asbes, maka sudah ada Perda Gedung dan Bangunan tahun 2019 yang khusus mengatur tentang pelarangan penggunaan asbes tersebut.

“Kota Bandung merupakan satu-satunya kota di Indonesia, yang eksplisit melarang penggunaan asbes. Hal itu tercantum pada pasal di Perda Gedung dan Bangunan tahun 2019. Mereka (DFAT Australia dan LION Indonesia) mengapresiasi kita akan komitmen tersebut,” tuturnya.
Selain itu, penyakit yang disebabkan oleh asbes sudah memiliki kualifikasi tersendiri, yakni Asbestos. Penyakit ini menyerang sistem pernapasan manusia hingga menimbulkan kanker.
Sementara itu, untuk di Kota Bandung sendiri pihaknya belum menemukan adanya laporan terkait penyakit asbestos tersebut.
“Kota Bandung belum mendengar, tapi saya pernah berdiskusi dengan dokter spesialis okupansi sudah banyak di Bandung. Dan didiagnosa ledakan asbestos itu di Indonesia pada 2023, jika menghitung mundur dari masuknya asbes ke Indonesia,” katanya.
