Bandung, JURNAL TIPIKOR – Wakil Wali Kota Bandung, Erwin, menyatakan dukungannya terhadap putusan Mahkamah Konstitusi (MK) yang mewajibkan Sekolah Dasar (SD) dan Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) negeri maupun swasta memberikan layanan pendidikan gratis.
Kalau bicara undang-undang, ya memang harus gratis. Saya sangat setuju,” kata Erwin saat diwawancarai di UIN Bandung, Jumat, 30 Mei 2025.
Menurutnya, keputusan ini sejalan dengan semangat keadilan sosial dalam demokrasi yang tengah diupayakan oleh pemerintah.

Ia menjelaskan, selama ini Pemkot Bandung sudah menyiapkan skema bantuan untuk sekolah swasta, terutama tipe C dan D.
Menurutnya, Pemkot Bandung telah mengklasifikasikan sekolah swasta menjadi empat tipe yakni tipe A, B, C dan D.
“Sekolah yang A dan B nggak bisa dibantu, tapi yang C dan D kami bantu lewat RMP (Rawan Melanjutkan Pendidikan), supaya semua anak Bandung bisa tetap sekolah gratis,” jelasnya.
Menanggapi dampak kebijakan ini bagi sekolah swasta, Erwin mengatakan, Pemkot Bandung akan segera menggelar pertemuan.
“Pasti akan kami undang. MK ini sudah final. Sekarang tinggal bagaimana teknisnya, itu yang akan kami diskusikan bersama sekolah-sekolah,” katanya.

Ia berharap transisi ini berjalan baik dan tidak mengganggu kualitas pendidikan.
“Kami komitmen untuk mewujudkan keadilan pendidikan di Kota Bandung,” tegasnya.
Untuk diketahui, pada Selasa 27 Mei 2025 lalu, MK mengabulkan sebagian permohonan uji materi terkait frasa “wajib belajar minimal pada jenjang pendidikan dasar tanpa memungut biaya” dalam Undang-Undang Sistem Pendidikan Nasional (UU Sisdiknas).
Dalam putusannya, Ketua MK Suhartoyo menyebut negara—pemerintah pusat dan daerah—harus membebaskan biaya pendidikan dasar yang diselenggarakan pada satuan pendidikan SD, SMP, dan madrasah atau sederajat, baik di sekolah negeri maupun swasta. (rob/red)
