Halmahera Utara, Jurnaltipikor.com –Gunung Dukono di Kabupaten Halmahera Utara, Maluku Utara mengalami erupsi sejak 3 bulan lalu. Abu vulkanik yang disemburkan gunung itu kian meningkat dalam dua pekan terakhir.
“Aktivitas Gunung Dukono ini dimulai sekitar 3 bulan lalu, namun dalam 2 minggu terakhir ini semakin meningkat. Abu gunung yang cukup tebal disertai dentuman dari kawah gunung dengan jumlah yang cukup banyak,” ujar Kepala BPBD Halmahera Utara Hentje Hetharia, dilansir detikSulsel, Kamis (9/11/2023).
Gunung Dukono erupsi pada Kamis (9/11) sekitar pukul 06.42 WIT dengan tinggi kolom abu teramati kurang lebih 1.000 meter di atas puncak atau sekitar 2.087 meter di atas permukaan laut. Kolom abu teramati berwarna putih hingga kelabu dengan intensitas tebal condong ke arah timur.
Menurut Hentje, abu vulkanik gunung Dukono hampir terjadi setiap hari, terutama saat cuaca cerah. Namun dalam dua pekan terakhir ini, abu turun cukup lebat yang disertai suara letusan.
Kalau di hari-hari saat kondisi normal, (abu yang keluar dari kawah gunung) sangat tipis hingga tidak ada abu. Namun dalam dua minggu terakhir ini, abu turun dengan lebat yang didahului letusan atau erupsi gunung tersebut,” ujarnya.
Sejauh ini belum ada laporan terkait korban maupun kerusakan fisik berupa bangunan dan fasilitas umum lainnya. BPBD juga masih menunggu informasi dari Puskesmas maupun RSU Tobelo terkait laporan Infeksi Saluran Pernapasan Akut (ISPA) yang diderita warga dari dampak erupsi Gunung Dukono.(*)
