Mengenang Arist Merdeka Sirait: Dedikasi Seumur Hidup dalam Membela Anak-Anak yang Terpinggirkan
Jakarta, JurnalTipikor.com | Dunia hak anak Indonesia berduka atas kepergian Ketua Komisi Nasional Perlindungan Anak (Komnas PA), Arist Merdeka Sirait, pada pagi hari Sabtu (26/8). Berusia 63 tahun, Arist menghembuskan napas terakhirnya di Rumah Sakit Polri Kramat Jati setelah berjuang melawan sakit sejak Senin (21/8). Namun, warisan dedikasi seumur hidupnya dalam memperjuangkan hak dan perlindungan anak-anak yang tidak mendapatkan keadilan akan tetap abadi.
Dalam perjalanan hidupnya, Arist tak hanya menjadi pionir, tetapi juga penyokong utama bagi hak-hak anak. Sejak dilahirkan di Pematang Siantar pada 17 Agustus 1960, dedikasi Arist terhadap anak-anak terlihat jelas sejak usia dini. Ayahnya, seorang penjahit, membangun sekolah gratis bagi anak-anak pekerja perkebunan di daerah tersebut, mencetuskan api semangat dalam diri Arist untuk melindungi mereka.
Di tengah keluarganya yang besar, Arist tumbuh di tengah realitas anak-anak yang harus bekerja sebagai buruh kasar di perkebunan. Inilah akar perjuangannya untuk hak anak-anak terpinggirkan.
Dorongan semakin menguat saat Arist dewasa dan bergabung dengan organisasi perlindungan anak. Bersama Seto Mulyadi, mereka mendirikan Komnas PA pada tahun 2010. Dalam perannya sebagai ketua Komnas PA, Arist tidak hanya memperjuangkan hak-hak anak, tetapi juga terlibat langsung dalam mengatasi berbagai kasus anak, termasuk kasus kekerasan yang melibatkan anak A, kekasih Mario Dandy.
Salah satu capaian besar yang dicatat Arist adalah penyelesaian kasus bayi tertukar di Bogor. Keberhasilan tes DNA sebagai solusi kasus ini menjadi salah satu penutup perjalanan panjangnya dalam memperjuangkan hak anak-anak.
Selama ini, Arist juga menjalin kemitraan dengan Kepolisian Negara Republik Indonesia (Polri) dalam usaha melindungi anak-anak. Irjen Sandi Nugroho, Kepala Divisi Humas Polri, menyatakan, “Polri turut berduka atas meninggalnya Ketua Komnas PA Arist Merdeka Sirait.” Sandi menekankan kolaborasi dan komitmen Arist dengan Polri dalam mengungkap kasus-kasus yang melibatkan anak.
Indonesia kehilangan sosok yang penuh semangat dan komitmen dalam memperjuangkan hak dan perlindungan anak-anak. Dedikasi Arist Merdeka Sirait akan terus menginspirasi dan memberi arti pada upaya melindungi generasi muda, serta membangun masa depan yang lebih adil dan berdaya.
